Batteries: Why are they so important?

Energy storage has truly changed the way energy is used by people. Even though these batteries tend to be more expensive than the regular alkaline batteries, they are economical in their usage. Instead of wasting money, over and over again on non-rechargeable batteries, you can buy AA or AAA rechargeable batteries.
Battery maintenance is important
Batteries need to be checked if they hold the charge any longer. To improve reliability and cut replacement costs, many organizations have adopted some type of battery maintenance.
For a user, using a battery comes with several uncertainty issues. They don’t know the capacity held by the pack. A system has to be operated in case of unforeseen circumstances and emergencies where every watt power of the battery is needed. Battery breakdowns are very common and these can define every watt of battery power. In the case of weak batteries, customers need to know their proper handling and disposal. The loss of an adequate amount of battery power can be detrimental for the user and device it is inserted into.
Correct Battery disposal is required
As important is the purchase of the right battery pack so is its safe disposal. Just because you’ve exhausted the battery power doesn’t mean that it isn’t harmful anymore. For a smart customer, it is important that they are educated about all the aspects of the battery, its safe use, and clean disposal. Since these batteries consist of several heavy metals, their disposal is not easy.
The landfill sites are filled with non-biodegradable and biodegradable types of wastes and these batteries constitute the former. Since these landfill sites are associated with land pollution, air pollution, and water pollution, disposing of these batteries onto the landfill sites can complicate the water table further. Therefore, it is important that these batteries are treated for their chemical composition before they are transferred to the landfill sites.
Battery manufacturers need to take charge to educate the general public about the importance of recycling units for discarded batteries. Furthermore, more startups need to feature the recycling of such non-biodegradable waste and raise awareness about the same.

- Insert the batteries properly. Follow the correct symbols to use the batteries in a proper way. Use the positive end and negative end in the right manner.
- Do keep battery contact surfaces clean by gently rubbing with a clean pencil eraser or cloth.
- Do remove all the batteries from the device at the same time and replace them with a new set of batteries of the same size and type.
- To preserve battery life by switching off a device and removing batteries when it is not being used or is not going to be used for extended periods of time.
- Practice proper battery storage by keeping batteries in a cool, dry place at normal room temperature. Do not store the batteries in a refrigerator.
